Terms of Service

These are the rules for using Buaic. They're a contract between you and us, so they're written carefully — but we've tried to keep them readable rather than turning them into a wall of capital letters.

Who you're dealing with

Buaic is an independent app based in Ireland. It's one person, not a company.

Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using Buaic, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

You need to be 16 or over

Buaic is for students aged 16 and over. That's the digital age of consent in Ireland, and it's the age from which we're allowed to handle your data without a parent's permission.

If you're under 16, you can't use Buaic. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 16, we'll close it and delete the data.

Your account

You can start using Buaic as a guest, without giving us anything. If you later add an email address, your guest progress carries over to the new account.

• One account per person. Don't share an account or sell one.
• Keep your login to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at support@buaic.app if you think someone else has got into it.
• Give us an email address you can access if you want to be able to recover the account.

If you lose access to a guest account — you delete the app, or change phone — we usually can't recover it, because there's nothing tying it to you. That's the trade-off for not having to sign up. Add an email if your streak matters to you.

Paying for Buaic

Buaic offers monthly and annual auto-renewing Premium subscriptions through Apple's App Store. The paywall shows the exact price and billing period for your storefront before you confirm a purchase. Buaic does not receive your card details.

• Apple charges the payment method attached to your Apple ID when you confirm.
• The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel it in your Apple subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; Premium remains available until the end of the period already paid for.
• Deleting Buaic or deleting your Buaic account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel it separately in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
• Refund requests are handled by Apple, subject to Apple's rules and your consumer rights. Contact support@buaic.app if Premium does not unlock after payment.
• A free trial applies only when its duration and the price charged afterward are explicitly shown in Apple's purchase screen. No trial is promised otherwise.

Prices may change for future billing periods. Apple will provide any notice or consent flow required for a subscription price increase.

Free access through a school or a referral

We sometimes give free premium access — through a school, a class code, or a referral. When we do:

• It lasts for the period we state and then simply ends. It doesn't turn into a paid subscription, and you won't be charged.
• We can withdraw it if a code is being shared beyond the group it was meant for.
• Free access is a gift, not a purchase.

What Buaic does and doesn't promise

We don't promise you'll do well in your exams. Nobody honestly can. Buaic is a study tool. What you get out of it depends on the work you put in, what else you're doing, and a hundred things outside anyone's control. Any progress figure or readiness percentage in the app is an estimate based on your activity in Buaic — not a prediction of your grade.

We're not the State Examinations Commission. Buaic isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the State Examinations Commission, the Department of Education, the NCCA, or any school. We're an independent app.

Our questions are our own. Every question in Buaic is written by us against the published curriculum specifications — we don't reproduce past exam papers. We work hard to keep questions accurate and on-specification, but we can't guarantee that every one is free of errors, or that our coverage matches what actually appears on your paper. For subjects on a new specification, no past paper exists yet, so difficulty is our best judgement rather than something calibrated against a real exam.

Tell us when we're wrong. If you spot a question that's incorrect, email support@buaic.app. We'd genuinely rather know.

The app won't always be available. We'll try to keep it running, but we don't promise uninterrupted service. Things break, and sometimes we take the app down to fix them.

What you can and can't do with our content

The questions, explanations, study plans, artwork and the app itself belong to us. While your account is active we give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own studying.

You may not:

• Copy, scrape, or bulk-export our questions or explanations
• Republish or resell any part of Buaic, including in a study group, on a Discord, or in notes you sell
• Use automated tools, bots or scripts against the app or its API
• Reverse-engineer the app, except where Irish law says you're allowed to
• Remove or hide any ownership notices
• Use Buaic to build a competing product, or to train a machine-learning model

Behaving decently to other students

Buaic has display names, friends and a leaderboard. That means other people see what you write.

• Don't pick a display name that's abusive, hateful, sexual, or that impersonates someone else.
• Don't harass other students or use the friends feature to bother anyone.
• Don't cheat the leaderboard — no scripts, no fake accounts, no exploiting bugs to farm XP. If you find a bug that lets you, tell us instead.

We can change or remove a display name that breaks these rules, and we can remove you from the leaderboard, without notice.

Feedback

If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we can use it without owing you anything. We're not trying to take your work — we just can't run a product where every feature request creates a claim. You keep the right to use your own idea elsewhere.

Suspending or closing your account

You can leave whenever you like. Use the deletion page — no login needed — or delete your account in the app's settings.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, particularly for scraping our content, abusing other students, or fraud. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.

Changes

We may change these terms — usually because the app has changed, or the law has. If a change matters to you, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you don't accept it, you can stop using Buaic.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't let us limit. Your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish and EU law are unaffected by anything here.

Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows: we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose. If you've never paid us anything, that means we're providing the app as-is.

We're a very small operation, and this clause is the reason we can offer the app during testing.

Consumer rights

Your rights if the app is faulty or isn't as described are not affected. If something's wrong, contact us and we'll deal with it.

Law and courts

These terms are governed by Irish law, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer law and can bring a case in your local courts.
